SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSE "BUTTERFLY"
This unusual house was built for ourselves in a cottage community in Leningrad Oblast. The design features two trapezoidal volumes, one suspended above the other. The single-story section of the house, which contains the living and dining areas, boasts high ceilings. The overhanging section serves as a covered terrace and carport at the entrance. The complex form of the house was designed to create effective zoning for the plot, including areas for parking, communications, a garden, and a large lawn. Panoramic windows capture light from sunrise to sunset, while all technical rooms face north and east. The house is positioned on the lot to shield it from two of the three neighboring properties. The plot was leveled, with a parking area added, and a concrete driveway was built. The modernist direction of the home is expressed not only in the strict geometry of its volumes but also in its minimalist finish, with no decorative elements—everything serves a functional purpose. The use of leafwood planken in different sizes, orientations, and colors gives the building a more dynamic and expressive appearance. The volumetric and spatial solutions are meticulously designed, making this home unmatched in terms of efficient use of space and construction volume.
The house includes a living room divided into fireplace, dining, and kitchen zones (separated by a bar); a walk-in closet; a boiler room; a bathroom; a dedicated spa area with a shower, changing room, and sauna; a laundry storage room; a guest bedroom; an office that doubles as a bedroom; and a master bedroom with a walk-in closet.
